Pigeon Forge, Tennessee was a quiet little mountain town until the opening of the Great Smoky National Park in 1934. The city has steadily grown since the dedication of The Great Smoky Mountains National Park in 1940 and is now one of the most visited vacation spots in the southeastern United States.

Pigeon Forge, TN is one of the country's most convenient vacation spots as it is only a one-day drive for over half of the U.S. population. With its easy access to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Dollywood, and Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge is able to cater to the nearly 10 million plus visitors who pass through.

Pigeon Forge got its name as a result of the passenger pigeons that frequented the area when it was settled in the latter part of the 1790's and early 1800's. Isaac Love, a Pioneer, established an iron forge along the banks of The Little Pigeon River in 1820, and in 1830 his son William dammed up the river and started constructing the first building of the Old Mill. This authentic working mill is listed on the National Register of Historical Places.
